She'd been laying wrapped up in her linen cocoon
Sheltered and alone
Hidden behind the bedroom walls
Since the day he'd left their home
She'd said yes & so had he
Their vows were so seriously made
Why he left she would never know
She was left broken and afraid
Sadness took residence in her heart
Her limbs felt heavy as lead
She wept every day she opened her eyes
Starting each day filled with dread
Then one day she woke up and wept no more
She had no more tears to give
She picked herself up and faced the sun
And decided it was time to LIVE!
