Flash Friday 55 - Easter Bunny

Sweet little bunny
With big floppy ears
Fluffy white cotton tail
You come once a year

You visit at Easter
With a basket in hand
Laden with sweets
For all in the land

Hop-a-long little bunny
You can get through the gate
I will leave you a carrot
Please, please don't be late.

Swollen - 100 Word Challenge!!

We prayed
For rain
Life restoring rain
Red cracking earth
Crops dying
Livelihoods battered & bruised
Nothing could grow
Flora & fauna struggled to survive
Devouring fires swept the land
Lives are lost
Victim to the big dry
Water is now liquid Gold
We conserve
Our spirits are low

We pray..

In the thousands the ants they come
Like messengers from God
I'm told it's a sign of rain

The heavens open up
The prayers of a nation are answered
It rains!

It rained & rained
Dams filled to overflowing
Swollen rivers break their banks
Life's come back
To Australia!

The Privilege to Love!

Next to life itself, love is by the far the greatest gift of all!
It is an opportunity but it is more than that too!
It is more than just a series of moments spent with another!
It is a privilige! Love is a privilige!

It is the purest form of togetherness. It enhances the gift of life with a sense of fulfilment & satisfaction. It is an interaction or an intermingeling of souls.

Love comes in many forms, it does not have to be romantic, sexual or passionate. Even a small amount of love can give a life purpose. The love for a friend, love of a sibling, of your parents, of your friends & neighbours. It's an investment made over time that gives value to a life, a value that can't be achieved on your own.

Yes...Love is a privilige & a privilige that I am ever so grateful for!

Sleep!

Sleep
Ever elusive
My mind a buzz of activity
Thought filled
Obstructions
Inhabiting my mind
Bouncing around in my head
Like a fire cracker set alight
Creating a space not conducive to sleep
I pray that slumber will come
Sweet rejuvenating slumber
My eyes are heavy
My head it aches
My feet shuffle with frustration
The harder I try
The more awake I become

I surrender!!!
I give up!
I stop trying!

Light goes on
I open a book
Read comforting words
Invasive thoughts evaporate

A glass of warm milk
Is slowly consumed
I am now ready
I have lassoed slumber
I've got it in my grip
And now I sleep!

Picture is not mine it is from Google Images

Magpie Tails #7 - Daffodils!

Daffodils dancing on a gentle breeze
Shimmering golden like the sun
Little tea cup sits in a saucer of petals
A visual feast indicating spring has come

When I think of a daffodils ... I think of what they symbolize. They are an international symbol of hope for those touched by cancer. Wouldn't it be a miracle to live in a world free of this insidious disease!!!

I lost my beautiful friend Judy & her two little babies to liver cancer several years ago. It was the one of the single most saddest days of my life thus far. I miss her everyday!
I wrote this post on the anniversary of her death ... and thought I would share it here now.

REMEMBERING YOU JUDY!

Judy it has been 4 years since you went away my friend! I think of you often but I'm sure you already know that! I wonder how things might have been for you had this terrible thing not happened! I miss you & I still feel angry that this happened to you!

I remember your smile & your gusto for life
I remember your love of holidays & get togethers
I remember celebrating your 40th birthday & how privileged I felt to be part of your life.
I remember your love of children & your devotion to family
I remember how you took another woman's children under your wings & loved them like they were your own
I remember how welcoming you were to everyone
I remember your nurturing & caring spirit
I remember how we laughed together
I remember your yearning to have children
I remember you sharing your fears with me & I thank you for the trust you gave me.
I remember your struggle & I wished that there was something that I could do to help
I remember your home & how beautiful you made it feel ... so homely & welcoming...just like you!
I remember your compassion for other less fortunate
Yes I remember you as one of the best people I have ever known!
I remember your funeral & all the people that gathered to celebrate your beautiful life.
I remember seeing you rest peacefully with your little cherubs... whom are very blessed to have you as their mother!
As I think of you now...I am sending you kisses, hugs & lots of love... to you and your babies!
Love your friend Katherine xoxox

New Life - Friday 55

Nine month have passed
The time has come
New life about to begin
A potpourri of emotion fills the air
Excitement and Nervousness
Omnipresent fear
The hope all goes well
Pain ever present but a necessary companion on the journey
Toes curl
One last push
Baby Cries
Warm embrace
Tears fall
A family now is made

This was my Flash 55

Looking for My Gifted Pen

It's not jealousy that I feel but rather an admiration & a longing for the ability to write with a talent like the authors that I read. Those wonderfully gifted people that seem to possess a gifted & magical pen. I'm still searching for mine. In the meantime I will continue to write of my own experiences in my little corner of this world.

I've lived a sheltered life. Never having traveled & experienced life through a wider lense. Maybe I will find my gifted pen later in life, after I've had the opportunity to travel & soak up life from different corners of the world. After I've stood on the sands of foreign shores, walked the cobble stone paths of an ancient city & gazed in awe at the natural wonders of this world.

I can wait! Waiting is something that I've been doing that for a long time! I've mastered that!One day we shall go together! We will take photos of the sunrises & the sunsets every where we go. We will take our time to soak it up, breath in the foreign air, taste the delicacies that are on offer & I will take a piece of every place we visit with me when I go. We will create a picture book of memories & I will write. I will write as I am now. I will write to remember!

Pondering over this time ahead of me, I am filled with excitement. The kind of excited anticipation that a child feels on Christmas Eve. I anticpate that it will be beautiful, to share our love in a different town, a different country...in a different part of this world! But for now, I wait!

Say Hello To My Family

I would like to introduce you to my family
This is my family. My sister Alice, my mother Carmel, my brother Patrick & me (the cheeky little one on the right)

This is us today
Alice, Mum, Patrick & Me

Heres my family...thats me in the middle...the rose among the thorns

Me & my beautiful mother

This is my grandmother & me.... the last time she was able to visit for a holiday. She is now 96 years of age and is still going strong. She has now moved into a home for the aged but is loving it!

This is all of my immediate family. This was taken at my son Lukes 21st Birthday dinner. We had a lovely evening

A New World

With words
You enter my life
You show me a world
So different from mine
I like it
Its exciting & new
You share your stories
Your likes
Your dislikes
You share the essence of you
And I in turn share mine
You challenge me
You challenge my thoughts
We are strangers
But still we share
It's seems that there are no boundaries
No walls to hold us in
Words!
Beautiful Words
Laced together to tell a story
Soliloquies shared
An intermingling of souls
Different but somehow the same
A mutual act of giving & receiving
A positive place to be!

My little free verse to blogging! I am really enjoying this experience!

Lovers Beach!

Moonbeams danced upon the surface of the silvery sea
Creating an ambiance perfect for lovers
No candles, no music necessary
Just the gentle glow of the full moon
And the rhythmic song of the sea
The living, breathing sea
Water caresses the golden sand...
Gentle Ebb & Flow

A small embrace
A gentle kiss
Arousing a hungering passion within
He pulls her closer to him
He loves how she feels
Inflamed and Impassioned

This woman he loves ...
...His only temptation
...His only delight

He craves her

smoldering, taunting and enchanting

Love!

Bonding!

A feeling of calm envelops me in a way that brings peace & contentment as I watch their interaction. Father & son, in conversation, a smooth flowing & normal conversation. No risen voices, no argumentative vibe is present. Of late this has been somewhat of a rarity!
They are different but they are also the same, in many ways! This is not something that either would agree upon but as a constant participant in both their lives I know it to be true.
It made my heart soar!

A letter from Lefthand Branch!

So yesterday I was talking to the ageing mother of a client who grew up in England during the war. I find her to be a very intriguing woman indeed.

On my arrival to her house yesterday I found mail in her letterbox, so brought it up to her. Amongst her mail she had received a letter from a place called Lefthand Branch. She asked me did I know of such a place. Well, I have never heard of it.

I have since looked it up & it is in the Toowoomba area.

I watched her face as I handed her the letter & I could see the excitement of a little girl all written over her aged face. A delightful expression adorned her face as she read the letter aloud to me. It was priceless moment!

The woman whom sent the letter was also in her mid 80’s. This beautiful letter, with such neat penmanship was full of pleasantries about the weather, her family & memories of curfews, rations & service men during wartime in England.

I listened to this lady & felt as though I could sit there and listen all day. She had an amazingly warm voice, comforting, like my grandmothers.

I told her how wonderful I thought it was that she had a pen pal & asked her how long they had been writing each other, expecting that it would have been for years. She responded that it had only a month.

She then proceeded to tell me about a movement called “Living Letters” & the young gentleman whom visited her socially every week, that had encouraged her to write to this lady in Lefthand branch.

I thought it was a wonderful concept. We all have a need to feel connected. To feel as though we are interesting enough that someone, even if it is a stranger ( a penpal) would want to share our lives with us.

After she finished reading the letter, memories from her past were sparked & she began to share stories of hardships that she had endured during wartime.

She told me a story of how they had lived on rations & how her mother would purchase 1 chop & 1 egg for her father. Her brother & sister would watch longingly as their father would sit & devour his chop in front of them, as they sat ate small amounts of vegetables, bread & dripping.

She told me it was her fathers theory, that because he was the bread winner, it was his entitlement to eat chops & eggs and they weren’t. She said he was an abusive drunk & she recalled that one time, he had tossed a chop bone across the table to his wife, uttering the words... "Here woman, have a morsel! Treating her no better than one would treat a dog, in my opinion.

After hearing this small excerpt from her life, I wanted to reach out & hug her 'child' self. I wondered what kind of a man could do this to his wife & children!

I wish time management wasn’t a factor of my day yesterday because I could have listened forever to her stories. What an interesting & very beautiful woman!

Forgiveness

I have been asked to say silent.

His family have always been this way. Say nothing & sweep it under the carpet.

Fortunately for me I was not raised this way, my mother taught me that ignorance is never the answer.

To cast your eyes, your mind & your heart away from something, such as this, is wrong.

Communication is the only way. The only answer.

It is also not about who is right & who is wrong. It is about coming together & finding a place of peace.

I have learned that with silence grows contempt. Silence is like bad seed, a seed that lies deep beneath the earths crust waiting to erupt & with it's vine like tenticles, strangle the life out of a beautiful lush tree that has stood strong for many years.

Forgiveness is crucial to life; it frees us from past wrongs & gives us hope for the future.

With hatred in our hearts we can never live our lives as God had designed

The Beach!

What a beautiful day! The fresh crisp morning was followed by a day of gorgeous blue skies, white fluffy marshmallow clouds, beautiful sea breezes, the hypnotic movement of the sea & the soothing sound of the waves rolling onto sandy shores. Magical!
The beaches were crowded with young & old, there were children playing with their dogs, surfers gliding in on big rolling waves. I saw a well dressed gentleman, I'm guessing around 55 & he was pushing an elderly lady in a wheelchair out onto the rocky wall. She was well groomed, but very, very frail. Her skin was marked with time, there were bruises on her forearms that were genlty crossed upon her lap. Her head was slumped to one side so I was unable to see her face. I began to wonder about this elderly lady. I wondered if this spot was one that she frequented as a younger, more lively woman. I began to think about the passage of time & the changes that lay ahead. I also wondered about the man that was pushing her in the wheelchair, watching him care for this woman with such tenderness. What a beautiful man!
We took a leisurely walk out to the end of the rocky sea wall , the ocean was wild & the swell of the waves were enormous. Standing still, staring out into the sea beyond, the large waves were crashing upon the rock wall, showering us with a fine, refreshing mist of sea spray. It was a soothing & therapeaudic sensory experience.
It always amazes me how healing a day at the ocean can be. The best things in life are free!

My "Mama Guilt Monday"

Mama Guilt Mondays

The first thing that springs to mind when I think of guilt in relation to my children, would have to be the day I failed to pick the boys up from school on time.
This happened about about 15 years ago. I had worked almost a weeks worth of night shifts nursing, it was the middle of an Queensland summer. I set the alarm (at least I thought I had), had a shower & went to bed in my underwear. I drifted off into the deepest of sleeps.
When I awoke, I looked at the clock & to my shock it was 4:15 & my sons who were only 6 & 8 at the time were still at school. I should have picked them up at 3pm. I jumped out of bed, heart pounding a hundred miles, put on a dress as I was running up the hallway to get the keys. I jumped in the car & took off to get my boys. I cried all the way there, thinking I was the absolute worst mother in the world. Having thoughts like, someone could have taken my boys, I hope they didn't try and walk home by themselves, they could be lost (well...you get the drift) I was freaking out, BIG TIME!
I arrived at the school & the boys weren't waiting in the waiting zone. I ran to their class rooms which were all locked up. By now I was in full panic mode. I then ran down to the administration block, knocked on the door & the school principal opened the door. The principal name was Mike. Mike said "Hi Katherine. Are you OK? (I had snarbies running from my nose & my face was wet with tears)... Are you looking for you 2 little gentleman? I answered yes & was still crying. He stood away from the door & behind him sitting in the reception lounge were my 2 little boys. They were smiling & laughing, with not a worry in the world. Mike said, "They are fine, they came to the office when you didn't arrive. They said that is what Mummy had always told them to do."
I said to Mike..." How stupid of me! I have prepared them for a day like this, they did what I've drilled into them to do if I came late... and silly me, I go looking for them everywhere else but where I had told them to go. What a goose!"
Fortunately for me I had a good relationship with the principal, he was a lovely man. He said to me (knowing that I was now working night shifts)... "Did you sleep in Katherine?" I replied with a Yes.
He gave me a hug & as he did he said," Have you had a look at yourself?"
I looked down & saw that I had my dress on, inside out & back to front. I felt like a real twit & I shared these thoughts with him. He just laughed & I laughed with him. Needless to say... I never, ever did it again!
But the guilt I felt was terrible. I would never have forgiven myself is anything had ever happened to my little cherubs.

Falling Into Love - Creative Tuesday

FALLING INTO LOVE

~~~~~
She had never felt this way before
It was something altogether new
The feeling was overwhelming & all consuming
Unshiftable
Like the tentacles of a cephlapod this feeling held on tight
She couldn't shake it
It was there to stay
She was falling
She was falling hard & fast for this wonderful young man
It was a bottomless fall
A fall without end
She was floating
Never to touch the ground
He had swept her off her feet
Trapped Inside! Sunday 160
~... ~
Lost & confused!
Trapped inside a voiceless body
Awaiting release from this captivity of hell
Can anybody see the person within?
I think, I feel and I want freedom!
..........
My 160 was inspired by the beautiful people that I have met throughout my career. The ones whose minds are as alive & well as yours and mine...they have full cognitive function. They suffer from what is known as locked in syndrome. It is a catastrophic condition with no cure!
Sometimes the pressures of life can take me to a gloomy place but I have learned throughout the years to recognise when this is happening & remind myself of all the great things that I have in my life. The things that I can be grateful for!
One of my most blessed gifts in this life is the gift of my three sons! They have given a meaning to my life that, without them, I would never have known.
They've given me love, joy, laughter, hope, patience & yes they have also given me a fair dose of worry. But I am grateful for it ALL!
Mag 6 - The Toolbox
The Toolbox
The boy loved to watch his father
As he built furniture in his shed
He liked to help cut the timber
He did all his father said
His father would say Son watch & learn
If one day you'd like to build
Soak up all I teach you
So you can improve upon your skill
The little boy would watch his dad
And create things in his mind
He'd been collecting bit's and pieces of wood
And anything else that he could find
The day came when his father said
Son I've seen you watch & learn
You have been a very good student
Now I'll let you have your turn
The father gave the boy a present
A tool box filled with tools
A box of nails, a hammer and saw
And a list of the 'Shed Rules'
The little boy he took the box
Excitement filled his face
He looked up at his father and said
"Hey Dad.. you know.. you're Ace!"
FIVE QUESTION FRIDAY !
1. Have you ever had a celebrity sighting? Yes I have ...but probably no one you would know. He is a Rugby League Footballer & we saw him at a club...his name is Tonie Carroll
2. What temperature do you keep your house? Well when my husband is home we live in the antarctic & when I'm home alone it's a nice sensible temperature
3. Do you notice dust in other peoples homes? No a persons home is their own castle & if they like dust bunnies..that's their prerogative. I visit my friends to see them, not inspect their homes. Plus...I reckon, I would have quite a few dust bunnies residing in my home too.
4. What is the worst job you have ever had? I have had many jobs & each one has been very rewarding so I can't pick a worst one. Working in the Community Nursing & Disability Field... i would have to say the saddest work I've done was working in palliative care. Terribly sad & heart wrenching!
5. What is your most sentimental possession?
Would be family photos, diaries, wedding & engagement rings.
55 - Am Feeling Sick!
Gritty eyes
So sore and dry
My throat is red, red, raw
A thumping head
My muscles ache
Can't stand it anymore
My chest is sore
It's hard to breath
Don't mean to burden you with my woes
I really just hate being sick
And having a runny nose!
sniff, sniff, sniff, sniff, sniff...Blow!
Let's not quarrel!
Silence can be golden
It can also take a person apart
Silence with it's emptiness
Can break a persons heart
Withholding words from those you love
Is a terrible way to act
It creates a wall of silence
What a sad way to react
So choose a word
The 2 of you!
It need only be one
A word that states you call a truce
The fight will not be won!
A disagreement
Is what it is
It is not the end of world
Just agree to disagree
Let the fight now be unfurled
Read Write Poem#118 - Wedding Day
Her coach appeared up a fern lined path
The sun had almost set
Flame lit torches cast a golden light
This day she'd never forget
Her bridesmaids waited with bated breath
As she appeared at the coaches door
She emerged just like a princess
This beautiful woman they'd grown to adore
Her bridesmaids in their turquoise frocks
Assisted her on her way
Adjusting her gown & fixing her hair
This was to be a memorable day
So nonpareil her beauty
A strumpet she was not
On this day no one else compared
Today she had the lot
The church doors were flung open
A bouquet of crimson roses in her hand
With her eyes cast to the alter
She cast her gaze upon her man
The church was full but all she saw
Was her future up ahead
With furtive thought she closed her eyes
and thought ... Today I'm going to wed!
Love through the eyes of a 14 year old ME!
Today I found an old diary from high-school. I was 14 when these diary entries were written. The paper on which is is written is bug bitten & dusty but the sentiment of the words is in tact. There are pages missing but still plenty inside is left.
Here are some extracts:
Edward: Is someone i love and care for very much. He is a very considerate and gentle person. He has a fascinating ability to make me laugh no matter what kind of mood I'm in. He makes me feel like someone really special and he is always there to give me a little TLC when I need it.
My family have had the pleasure of meeting him and they all like and get along with him. Mum lets me go out with him because she knows that I am safe with him. He is a wonderful person and a great boyfriends and I hope that nothing ever comes between us, because this relationship means an awful lot to me.
This is a poem I wrote when I was 14
LOVE CONQUERS ALL
Love is a very precious thing
As I'm sure you will agree
It is much more beautiful that a doves white wings
And more peaceful than the sea
The saying goes,"Love conquers All"
I suppose it could be true
For when a friendship suddenly falls
There is nothing you can do
Like red roses in a garden bed
They thrive on sun & rain
With their petals so neatly spread
They'll see the sun again
Love should be an everlasting thing
With hugs & kisses too
So when the bells they start to ring
Don't hesitate in saying,"I do".
Theme Thursday ~ Breakfast!
I really don't like these early morning departures. They are becoming more & more a common occurrence. It occurred to me that we have not sat to share a breakfast in weeks. Oh, I really do miss that!
The perfect morning!
Is the morning followed by and equally as perfect night
A night of music
Divine food
Love
and Romance
It is the morning that you awake in the arms of the one you love.
It is the pillow talk
The cuddles
The kisses
The anticipation of the day to come
Being together
The perfect start!
It is the breakfast shared
Togetherness
The aromatic smell of freshly brewed coffee
The smell of toast as it wafts through the air
Golden butter melting in submission from the warmth of the crust
An awakening of senses
Breakfast
I love it!
I wish every day could start this way!
But for me today it's WeetBix, eaten alone!
Mag 5 - Wooden Hand
I ‘feel’ nothing
But I make some feel good
I have five jointed fingers
Created from wood
Malleable digits
That can be moved about
Hard, cold & polished
But lifeless, no doubt
I am a puppet
I dangle from string
I make children happy
I am a play thing
I live in a toybox
I come out now & then
Sometimes I am Brenda
And sometimes I’m Ben
Break Through the Silence - Facilitated Communication
Helplessness
Silence
The girl is locked in
To a life of frustration
She waits for life to begin
They see her before them
A blithering mess
Arms flinging about her
This is her life of distress
In her words not mine
She screams in her head
I understand!
I can hear you!
I am living not dead!
No one can hear me
I know they can't see
The voice that's imprisoned
Please...Come set it free
No words, No speech
In limbo she's lost
Lets help her to talk
Doesn't matter the cost
Frustration's her burden
She's 'wanting' to Live
To Learn
Love
&
Communicate
Let's not keep her locked in!!!
by
KatherineFredes
I met a young lady during training last week whose doctors had diagnosed with severe autism at the very young age of 2. At the age of 4 and half, doctors informed her parents that she would never be able to talk or communicate because of her profound disability. She is now a beautiful young lady of 21. She was introduced to a very controversial method of communication known as Facilitated Communication when still very young. Her mothers dedication & drive to provide her with an education has unlocked this beautiful girls creative mind & given her a voice.
I have seen this method of communication in use & I can tell you that it works!! I would love to see every child that is locked in, find their voice but the powers that be are so skeptical that they won't fund it!
I would love for them to meet this young lady, see what I saw & tell her that she's full of it! Because she so obviously is not!!!
Emptiness!
Quiet!
Too quiet!
Empty space in my bed!
Cold, cold emptiness.
Silence of breath
Absence of smell
He's gone!
Too silent
So cold
His essence is gone
Longing for arms
Pining for warmth
Absence of touch!
So Sad
Happy again!
Content & calm
The space is filled
Warm breath again
Chest rises then falls
The rythum of life
His life
Our life
I snuggle in
Nuzzle in
Breath him in
I feel safe
Home again
I'm no longer alone!
The space is filled
He's where he belongs!
10 Questions You May Like to Answer!
I got these 10 questions off a fellow blogger: A Peek into Our Lives : by a Daft Scots Lady
1. If you could give the world one piece of advice, what would it be?
To the inhabitants of this planet I would say take care of this world... To an individual I would say allow yourself to love & be loved
2. If you could have a room full of any one thing, what would it be?
I would have to say all those people in my life whom bring me joy & happiness.
3. What do you value most in other people?
I value a persons honesty, integrity, their humour, their humility, their ability for compassion & empathy.
4. If you could only see black and white except for one color, what color would it be?
Would have to be blue ... because it's calming like the sky & the sea
5. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
If I could change one thing it would be my fear of speaking in public .... being Glossaphobic can be very inhibiting.
6. If you could choose one of your personality traits to pass on to your children, what would it be?
My compassion
7. What would you attempt if you knew you could not fail?
I would probably start a service designed to raise awareness on the struggles of people with mental health issues & disabilities. To lift the stigmas that can be so isolating to these people.
8. Would you rather teach a young child to read or have to learn again for yourself?
I would rather teach.
9. What is the best advice you’ve ever given and received?
Given: Never let the sun go down on a fight!
Received: You are exactly where you are meant to be right now ... everything is exactly as it should be ... it's an opportunity to learn!
10. How would you like to die?
I don't like to contemplate death because I love life so much...so I guess I would love to die an old woman ... with my family around me knowing that I have lived a full & happy life.
Seagulls & Pelicans
Take me there!" I say to him
It's where I like to go
To clear my head of troubles
When I am feeling low
I dig my feet into the sand
And take a deep breath in
I fill my lungs with salty air
And repeat again & again
I turn my face toward the sun
I listen to the waves
I feel the sea breeze on my skin
This is what my body craves
The beach it has a healing power
It brings me back my peace
The golden sand, the ocean blue
It helps my troubles cease.
Guardian Angels!
During my life there have been periods where life has been less than easy! Challenging, trying, scary, nerve racking periods that were so overwhlemingly frightening because the outcome was so uncertain. The gift of hindsight enables me to see how very fortunate I have been.
People speak of guardian angels & I believe that these angels are in fact people like you & me. Living & breathing the same air.
An intermingling of lives & timely chance meetings. With the right amount of nourishment & attention these meetings flourished into friendships. Beautiful, wonderful friendships.
I am ever so grateful for each of these chance meetings. Some of these angels are still in my life today, some have recently re-entered, some have drifted away & some live only in my memories.
Gratitude is what I feel! Gratitude & love, that I have been blessed with the opportunity to have known this kind of love!
Byron Bay - Northern Beaches of NSW
My youngest son on our visit to Cape Byron Lighthouse!
This is the most Easterly Point of the Australian Mainland. My husband took these photos on one of our weekend trips to Byron Bay! We had the most perfect weather that day... hardly a cloud in the sky... the sea was the bluest of blues. Just magical!
This is the bald rocky headland with a precipitious cliff and a sheer drop of approximately 100 metres, Cape Byron Lighthouse is the most easterly lighthouse in Australia, and one of the most powerful.
This is the Cape Byron Lighthouse was built in 1901.
