Omission to me is as good as lying itself. It's deceitful, intentional and this to me is definitley not a trait in a person that deserves celebrating. Sadly though, it is often people of this calibre that find themselve in a position of power. That's not to say that I think all people in a position of power are this way because I have also known people in power that are quite the opposite. They are people whom I learned so much from, people whom I respected a great deal and for whom I shall forever be grateful.
To be in such a position is to have a great opportunity, no matter where you are or what you're doing, to make a difference in the lives of others. To be a postitive influence in the lives of others.
It frustrates and infuriates me though when people of power put their own wanton needs first, taking care of their own skin at absolutley any cost. Abusing their power!
Well for me... I can't live that way! I would struggle to sleep and function knowing that my actions may have caused pain & suffering to another. I will never comprehend the caprecious, cruel intent of some people. How they can sit there & look a person in the eyes, tell them flat out lies and still feel good about themselves, maybe even proud! I just don't get it!!!
For me, life is about living, caring, helping, supporting and carving a legacy of my life, both personal & professional life, to be proud of. I know I will only be remembered by few people in the grand scheme of things but at least I know that I will be remembered with fond memories & as a 'good' person.
Katherine: I absolutely agree with you. Has someone hurt you lately?
ReplyDeleteyes i imainge you will be...i like the life you choose to live a whole lot better...and while you may never get the fame for it...it counts in the long run...
ReplyDeleteWe share the same sentiments Katherine. My conscience would bother me too much if I treated people that way. I just don't have it in me to be mean. There's no value to it. And you are so right that "not" saying something can be the same as lying.
ReplyDeleteThank you Brian, Matty & JJ! Yes, at work! I've worked for 5 years for the same organization and have an impeccable work record. My clients & their families have always been happy with the services I deliver & I care deeply for the clients I support. Recently our service merged with a few other services and assumed a new name. As a result of this merger the organization now wishes to bring all employees wages in line which for me means a reduction of $3 per/hr. After 5 years of dedicated employment to get to my current rate I'll be damned if I am giving in without a fight. There is much more to the story than this but you get the gist!
ReplyDeleteYou won't get an argument from me Katherine ! In a previous life I was in a position to see this type of thing. All the jockeying for position and moving up by stepping on others. I discovered I didn't have the callousness that seemed to be required to get 'up there', nor did I have the stomach for a$$ kissing. Unfortunately it seems to be the way in the corporate world.
ReplyDeleteFight the fight and stand up for yourself !
Are you referring to a situation in particular? I agree with you for the most part... but I think sometimes honesty is not always the best policy. You can hurt someone with the truth.. (or your perceived notion of the truth).. so sometimes it's best to keep your thoughts to yourself.. but generally, I like to live my life the way youve described also.
ReplyDeleteFor me, life is about living, caring, helping, supporting and carving a legacy of my life....perfectly said my friend;)
ReplyDeletebless you, you deserve the best.
ReplyDelete:)
I agree with you. I hope you get the result you deserve.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that some people are being awful to you. With this said I am sending you a hug and my support. Miriam@Meatless Meals For Meat Eaters
