Five Year Old Me!

FIVE YEAR OLD ME

I'm five years old
Chicky is my name
I like lollies & dollies
And love to play games

I love my big sister
Alice is her name
My brother is Patrick
And I love him the same

I love to make mud pies
Climb big bushy trees
Catch guppies & tadpoles
And shoot paper balls & peas

Make tents in the garden
With Mums lovely clean sheets
Have concerts & picnics
And eat our mud-pies & treats

We like to swing on the swing set
And on my Mums big 'Hills Hoist'
Which really makes Mum angry
And her feelings are voiced

We get cuts & abrasion
Broken bones & burns
Stubbed toes & sunburn
And fight lot's over turns

Being a kid is great
Of this I am sure
Theres learning & fun times
And so, so much more!

  1. Your childhood reminds me very much of my own! When left to our own devices, kids will find all kinds of ways to be entertained. Love the photo!

  3. The other day I was watching my nieces and nephews run around a sprinkler thinking, wow time has really passed... because I remember doing the same thing at the very same place and it just gave me such a wonderful innocent flashback of my youth. This post did the same for me. Thank you! :)

  4. Hiya BV ... my childhood holds wonderful memories for me. We were not wealthy & didn't have many toys but what we lacked in toys we gained in imagination. I can never remember sitting around with nothing to do. There was always an adventure to be had. They are great memories aren't they!!!

Yes Brian it's true. In my memory I can travel back there to those wonderful times. And you're right, with my children, nieces & nephew, I can still sometimes be a child. However, not sure how I would go at climbing a big tree these days!!! He!He!He!

Hello Deb! Wow, you're still allowed to used sprinklers there. Here in Brisbane they are banned from being used unless you are using your own tank water. We have pretty strict water restrictions after the drought & even though our dams are full & the drought is now over the restrictions remain. I remember playing with the hose & running through the sprinkler myself though & they are wonderful memories. The wonderment of childhood!

  5. Great post Katherine - nostalgia can be a good feeling! You reminded me of those days too - before computers and organized sports. Just like you, and so many others I suspect, we made up our own games and weren't bored. We usually spent every possible moment outdoors - in all seasons!

Lovely photo. You must almost be at the weekend, so have a good one!

  6. Hey there Rick ... I have been feeling very nostalgic of late! They were the wonder years for sure! So much to explore living in a world of imagination... We are at the cusp of the weekend..it is now 8:20am on Friday morning & I should really be getting myself ready for work but it is hard to shift out of the bed this morning. It is so cold outside.
You have a fantastic weekend also Rick... :)
